OHIO's Center for Community Engagement invites student leaders to support the integration of nonpartisan civic engagement in support of having students engaged and living up to Bobcat Values! Student Civic Champions will receive resources to incorporate into their residence hall, student organization, fraternity, or sorority. All participating student leaders will receive recognition based on the level of participation. Champions will pledge to use the resources of their choice.

This Generation Has the Power to Shape Elections and Strengthen Democracy! By taking the Bobcat Voter Pledge, students will receive weekly updates and information to be an informed voter and engaged citizen. This will include: why to vote, how to decide where to vote (your home or campus community), how to get registered, how to find out what's on the ballot, and choosing how to vote (absentee, early, or on election day). By sharing the link for students to sign-up and using the flyer or slide, this is an easy step for a Student Civic Champion!

Encourage your peers to attend this event as a group! Civic Engagement isn’t over after an election. Core aspects of democracy support voters and non-voters addressing issues of concern through community organizing, advocacy, and communicating with elected officials. The Center for Community Engagement is facilitating this event to showcase examples of youth advocacy, educate participants on best practices and on student freedom of expression rights and responsibilities. Event will include:
Youth Activist Poster Session: OHIO Honors Program students in HC2905 Democracy in Action class will present posters about Gen Z activists from around the nation and world.
Activism & Advocacy Panel Discussion: Featured speakers will discuss OHIO’s Freedom of Expression policies, the basics of community organizing, and how to communicate with elected officials. Panel begins at 4:30pm with each speaker having up to 15 minutes and 15 minutes for Q&A to close out the event.

Here's another great group activity: attend one of BridgeOU's Civil Dialogue events! BridgeUSA is an internationally recognized non-profit that gives students the opportunity to engage in constructive and moderated discussion about political and social issues. Our goal is to provide students from diverse backgrounds and different viewpoints, a safe space to share their opinions, as well as to gain perspective of others'. We strive for solution-oriented politics that is built on empathy and understanding. We host weekly social gatherings for discussion and collaborate with other organizations on campus by holding interactive events. Join the movement that seeks to 'bridge' the gap in politics!
