Student Civic Champions

Encourage your peers to attend this event as a group! Civic Engagement isn’t over after an election. Core aspects of democracy support voters and non-voters addressing issues of concern through community organizing, advocacy, and communicating with elected officials. The Center for Community Engagement is facilitating this event to showcase examples of youth advocacy, educate participants on best practices and on student freedom of expression rights and responsibilities. Event will include: 

Youth Activist Poster Session: OHIO Honors Program students in HC2905 Democracy in Action class will present posters about Gen Z activists from around the nation and world.

Activism & Advocacy Panel Discussion: Featured speakers will discuss OHIO’s Freedom of Expression policies, the basics of community organizing, and how to communicate with elected officials. Panel begins at 4:30pm with each speaker having up to 15 minutes and 15 minutes for Q&A to close out the event.
