Fostering a service dog in training means providing them with the love and socialization necessary to prepare them to be a service dog for someone someday. I took my foster on multiple outings, including hockey games, and pumpkin patches, and she even got to come to work with me! The organization also hosted many events throughout the semester, like destressing with the dogs in Front Room and dog kissing booths.

It was an incredibly rewarding experience that taught me so much. I had my foster from May of 2021 until March of 2022. In this time I learned so much about caring for something other than myself and I also learned a lot about people with disabilities and what I can do to help them. My foster is currently in training to become a mobility dog for someone, and I am so happy that I could help her in her journey towards helping someone else.
