Period Pals of Ohio distributes free menstrual products to those in need within Athens and surrounding communities. Our goal is to bring awareness to period poverty and educate those around us on what they can do to help. Oftentimes, people are forced to choose between purchasing menstrual products or fulfilling their basic needs. We want to do our part to alleviate the stress involved in making that decision by ensuring that anyone who needs menstrual products is able to access to them, free of charge. Menstrual products are not a luxury, they are a necessity.
Period poverty does not only affect cisgender women, but it also affects transgender and non-conforming people, too. This is why it is so important to us to be conscious of the language we use surrounding periods.
