The Spero Project

The Spero Project is a part of making Oklahoma City a city of belonging and welcoming for new neighbors arriving from all over the world. Since September 2021, OKC has welcomed over one thousand new families from Afghanistan through the Afghan Placement Assistance program, along with neighbors from Myanmar, Vietnam, Sudan, and Afghanistan through traditional refugee resettlement. Spero provides English Language Learning classes for adults and children, support for navigating employment, housing, medical, financial and school systems, transportation and translation services, mental health support, citizenship support and new programs such as a women's sewing group and a new mom support program!
