About

The Dairy Barn Arts Center is a non-profit arts center located in Athens, Ohio. Providing art education, exhibitions, and events promoting art appreciation and creative experiences among all ages, The Dairy Barn is a cultural beacon for both residents and visitors to Southeast Ohio.
 
Classes, workshops, and youth educational programs featuring a wide variety of visual art media keep our ceramic, fiber, and art studios busy year-round. Volunteers help us keep our art materials in good working order and get to be a part of the creative energy and fun! Scheduling is available on Thursdays from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for as many slots as they would like!
 
An Art Studio Volunteer will work with The Dairy Barn Studio Manager and Education Director on a variety of studio tasks including...
  • Art materials management including but not limited to clay, glaze, fibers, and other art supplies (i.e. sharpening pencils, testing markers, rehabbing watercolor paints, etc.)
  • Special projects to improve the studio space and education programs
  • Studio maintenance, organizing, cleaning, and repairing studio tools and equipment
  • Testing of materials and creating example items as studio resources
General Qualifications:
Candidates should be comfortable working independently on assigned projects.
